The Mitchell and Friends Foundation exists to raise awareness of Mitchell Syndrome, an ultra-rare neurological disease discovered in 2017 and named after Mitchell Herndon, who died in 2019 after a protracted battle with the illness. Since his death, 30 other patients have been identified worldwide—including Cole Canning, a young boy living in Pennsylvania and fighting his own courageous battle. Mitchell and Friends supports children like Cole and raises money to fund research into possible cures. This promising research is ongoing at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
